Horse Shows...Zoo trips...And setting pins?

I'm starting to feel good about the summer groove here in Memphis.  Since moving from the Jersey shore to Memphis 8 years ago often times the "summer groove" isn't as much a relaxing vibe as just lots of humidity and station events.  But the weather so far has been tremendous and not overwhelming with the humidity.  I also feel very "Summery" thanks to a nice weekend of time spent with family and friends as I look forward to a Class Reunion back in Mount Olive, IL (I won't say which one!).

But this weekend we had a nice time at the zoo.  My son, Jake, likes the farm part of the Memphis zoo the most because it's most like his grandma and grandpa's farm.  You can tell that the cows at the Memphis Zoo are "zoo farm animals" because you basically can pet their cows!

After the zoo, it was off to the Germantown Charity Horse Show.  The folks in Germantown should be very proud of this event.  Great facility and grounds.  A nice evening with some BBQ Nachos from the Germantown Commissary.

Next weekend is my class reunion in southern Illinois.  I've been put in charge of bringing the music on CD's.  If times were like back then, I'd bring them on cassette.  But as I was assembling tunes, I found an old picture online of Turner Hall.  I quickly posted it on-line and it caught some attention.  Basically, it was (and still is) a two-lane bowling alley that I used to "set pins" at.  They didn't (and still don't) have automated lanes.  As I said on facebook, it was $5 per game, 2 sodas, & a candy bar for pay.  Usually, the bowlers would also tip if you were fast!  Good times.  Here's the bowling alley.
